Synth Ultra’s Hunt for the Fastest $BTC Forecasting Models

Synth (SN50) launches Synth, a Bitcoin forecasting competition where AI models must predict $BTC prices 10 seconds ahead in under 5 milliseconds using live high-frequency market data.

Synth Ultra’s Hunt for the Fastest $BTC Forecasting Models

Synth (SN50) opened the door to Synth Ultra, a competition where models race to forecast where Bitcoin ($BTC) will trade exactly 10 seconds into the future.

Models have just 5 milliseconds to produce their answers, pushing participants into a market environment far removed from what longer-horizon traders recognize.

About Synth Ultra

At these timescales, fundamentals and news matter little compared with order flow, order-book depth, and the shifting balance between spot and futures liquidity.

Synth Ultra opens this arena to any team willing to compete, with 25% of total SN50 miner rewards flowing to Ultra participants once the competition goes live on August 20.

What Competitors Must Deliver

The design pushes accuracy and speed against each other, forcing tradeoffs most modelling competitions never make.

1. A full probability distribution for $BTC 10 seconds forward: Not a single guess, a complete probabilistic forecast.

2. Inference completed in under 5 milliseconds: No exceptions, no accommodation for slow-but-clever models.

3. Runnable inside Synth’s own infrastructure: Every submission must meet the technical spec that lets it execute directly within Synth’s stack.

4. Continuous scoring against live markets: Performance gets tracked as market conditions evolve, meaning peak accuracy in one regime does not carry across.

5. Access to full high-frequency data: The previous hour of 1-second candles, spot and futures order book snapshots to depth, live order book updates, aggregate trade feeds, and best-price ticker streams from both venues.

Every one of those streams is essentially useless without the speed to process it before the market has already moved.

Why This Competition Matters

High-frequency trading has long been a closed world, with firms like Jane Street, Citadel, and Jump Capital spending decades building proprietary infrastructure and models whose capabilities rarely leave the institutions that fund them.

Synth Ultra flips that model open by having independent models compete on the same live prediction problem, scored against real outcomes and rewarded according to performance.

Synth Ultra Roadmap

$BTC is the starting point rather than the destination, with the long-term goal of building ultra-low-latency models that generalize across assets and eventually feed directly into Synth’s own trading systems.

The entry form is live now, submissions open August 17, and the competition launches August 20: 10 seconds into the future, with less than 5 milliseconds to predict it.
