UR is an open-source protocol that provides a decentralized, peer-to-peer privacy network and encryption layer for the internet, built as a subnet on Bittensor. It incentivizes participants through its native token ($ur/α) and operates via three main roles: operators who run privacy servers and manage reward distribution, miners who route encrypted traffic and earn emissions, and validators who verify network quality and accuracy. The system uses a unique staking and emission mechanism to ensure quality and fair compensation, supporting scalable, privacy-focused network infrastructure for applications like VPNs.
