Macrocosmos announced the IOTA SDK at Exploit Summit in Montreal, introducing a simpler way for developers to run existing AI training workloads across IOTA (SN9).
IOTA (SN9) coordinates GPUs spread across different locations and hardware types to train AI models together. The SDK is the developer-facing layer that makes that infrastructure easier to use.

Developers can define their model, data, training objective and configuration as they normally would, then connect the workload to IOTA, which handles how the training is distributed across the compute underneath.
This means developers do not have to rewrite their training setup for the different machines participating in IOTA. The SDK connects with existing workflows, allowing teams to add distributed training to their current setup without moving everything onto a new platform.

Developers also keep control over the training job itself. They can own and version their configurations, launch a run, make adjustments and stop it when needed. IOTA takes care of spreading the work across available compute without requiring developers to manage the machines individually.

Behind the scenes, IOTA decides what runs where and keeps the different parts of the training job coordinated. If machines join, leave or fall behind, the system adjusts around those changes while keeping the workload running.

The SDK also lets developers follow how a model is progressing and converging alongside the performance of the compute running it. This helps them tell whether an issue is coming from the model or from the infrastructure underneath.
Beyond individual training teams, platforms can integrate the IOTA SDK into their own products and offer distributed training directly to their users, extending SN9’s infrastructure into other AI products and research tools.
