In this video, Gordon Frayne breaks down the exact three-pronged strategy he’d use to grow a 10 TAO stack into 100 TAO, and it’s the same strategy he’s using in his own portfolio right now.
According to him, you don’t need a huge starting bag to grow it meaningfully. You need discipline across three specific plays.
1. Staking for high APY
The first pillar is capturing the 50–100% APY currently available across a number of high-quality subnets. Over a 12–24 month horizon, that yield compounds seriously. But that’s only if you pick subnets that won’t underperform TAO itself.
Gordon flags his SNAP+ framework (Subnet Analysis Protocol) as the tool he uses to filter for this. It’s a 10-criteria scorecard that evaluates subnets on both on-chain mechanics and business fundamentals, the point being that subnets without real customers eventually die, no matter how good the APY looks today.

2. Mining and liquidity provision
The second pillar is earning TAO without deploying more capital. Gordon points to two clean entry points:
- Bitcast: mine by creating Bittensor content. Now expanded across X, prediction markets, and soon agentic products.
- 0x Markets (Subnet 35): one of the lowest barrier-to-entry mining opportunities in the ecosystem. Provide USDC liquidity on Base, earn 20–70% APY in alpha tokens depending on lock duration.
The value here is clear: you keep your existing TAO stack intact while stacking more on top.
3. Subnet outperformance
The third pillar is where the real acceleration happens. Because subnet tokens are denominated in TAO, catching a subnet’s price appreciation and rotating back to TAO directly multiplies your stack.
Gordon’s example: Minos ran 92% in 22 days in late June through early July. A 10 TAO position swapped in at the low and out at the high becomes 19.2 TAO in three weeks. Even scanning the market on the day of recording, Lium (SN51) +8%, Oro (SN19) +12%, Green Compute (SN110) +17% in 24–48 hours. These show the same setups are happening constantly; you just need to know how to find them.
You don’t need to catch every move. One or two clean swings a month can compound your stack faster than pure staking ever could.
NB: The TAO Daily’s market intelligence tools may help you catch these gains.
The Takeaway
10 TAO is a starting position and not a small position. The people who turn it into 100 TAO aren’t the ones with the biggest bags. They’re the ones probably running all three plays at the same time: staking the base, mining for extra flow, and rotating strategically into subnets that outperform.
If you’re sitting on a small TAO stack wondering whether it’s worth the effort, this is the framework worth adopting early. The compounding starts working the moment you do.
