Bittensor traders no longer need to open a separate trading dashboard to transact with subnet tokens. Backprop Finance lets users buy and sell alpha tokens directly through Telegram bot, with swaps, staking, and unstaking also available through the app.
The bot connects users to Bittensor’s subnet markets through Telegram, making it easier to manage trades while away from a desktop.
How It Works

Users can create or import a Bittensor wallet directly within Telegram and trade subnet alpha tokens using TAO. Backprop describes the bot as non-custodial, with private keys stored locally on the user’s device and not on its servers.
The bot is part of a wider ecosystem that includes a web trading terminal, subnet screener, portfolio tracking, and wallet alerts. Its companion alerts bot monitors activity across selected wallets and subnets, helping traders spot activity and respond quickly.
How to Access and Use It

1) Open the Backprop trading bot in Telegram.
2) Create or import a self-custody wallet. Backprop says private keys remain on your device and not its servers.
3) Trade in the chat. Buy, sell or swap subnet alpha tokens against TAO.
4) Add the alerts bot to monitor selected wallets or subnets and react to market activity.
Use the web terminal and screener for additional trading tools, and consult the official documentation for guidance.
What This Changes for Bittensor
1) Less friction for traders: Dynamic TAO gives each subnet its own alpha token, but navigating these markets requires users to track prices, liquidity, and staking positions. Telegram access puts core trading actions in a familiar interface, reducing the steps between spotting a move and acting on it.
2) Trading and monitoring work together: Wallet alerts and subnet analytics help users follow activity without constantly watching a trading dashboard. Combined with execution inside Telegram, these tools make it easier to respond to changes across subnet markets.
3) More accessible financial tools: As Bittensor’s subnet ecosystem expands, traders need practical ways to manage positions across its markets. Backprop’s bot extends access beyond the web terminal and brings those actions into an interface many users already know.
What It Means Going Forward
The bot does not remove the risks of trading subnet tokens. Alpha markets can be volatile, and liquidity varies between subnets, so users still need to consider price impact, slippage, and wallet security.
Still, bringing trading into Telegram addresses a real usability barrier. If Bittensor is to attract more participants, its financial tools need to become easier to use as well as more powerful.
Backprop is taking a step in that direction by bringing subnet trading into an interface people already use, making Bittensor’s markets easier to reach without changing the on-chain assets underneath.
