Swarm (SN124) Simplifies Mining and Reaches Full Emissions With v5.1 Upgrade

Swarm (SN124) has deployed v5.1 across all validators, bringing the subnet to 100% emissions. The update restores Python code agents as the standard submission format, removing the ONNX packaging requirement that slowed development.

All five benchmark tasks are now fully public with documentation and downloadable champion models, while current leaderboard winners remain unchanged.

Together, the changes lower the barrier for new miners and strengthen Swarm’s focus on building state-of-the-art autonomous drone agents. 

What Changed in V5.1

The update focuses on making submissions simpler and putting the whole task surface in the open.

1. Python code agents return: Submissions are once again a drone_agent.py class, packaged with swarm model package and committed as a repo URL.

2. All five tasks are now public: Search and Rescue and Swarm SAR left the private track with full documentation.

3. Champion models are downloadable: The two previously private champions can be pulled from their model page.

4. Emissions run at 100%: Split into Interceptor at 30%, Swarm Autopilot at 20%, Swarm Search & Rescue at 20%, Autopilot at 15%, and Search & Rescue at 15%.

Breaking change: from V5.1 forward, only drone_agent.py submissions are accepted. Existing champions remain unaffected.

Where This Points

Simpler submissions and open tasks are the two levers that decide how fast a subnet attracts serious miners. Python beats ONNX for iteration speed, public documentation brings outside talent, and downloadable champions let new miners study the current bar instead of reinventing the baseline.
