404—GEN Opens First Game Jam Competition: 10 TAO in Prizes & Live Finals at Exploit Summit

404—GEN (SN17), the Bittensor subnet developing AI-powered 3D creation tools, has opened its first Game Jam Competition.

The two-week challenge asks creators and coding agents to build playable Three.js games from little more than one-line prompts. Running through September 25, the competition offers 10 TAO in prizes, with winners announced live at Exploit Summit in Montreal.

10 $TAO and Atlas Licenses Up for Grabs

First place receives 5 TAO, second gets 3 TAO, third 1.5 TAO, while voting determines who gets the remaining 0.5 TAO prize.

Ten additional participants will receive free Atlas licenses, giving creators access to 404—GEN’s production-ready 3D workflow platform. The platform has already been used by studios including Square Enix, adding a production-oriented dimension to the competition.

How Prizes Are Shared

Code Becomes the Raw Material

The technical rules are deliberately strict, requiring every three-dimensional object to be generated as pure Three.js code.

Entries cannot use downloaded meshes, asset-store imports or hand-modeled geometry, pushing agents to create editable JavaScript geometry modules.

Agents can inspect generated objects from multiple angles, iterate through critic loops, and optimize games against demanding performance limits.

Game Jam From Production to Submission

Games Must Survive Real-World Constraints

Every finished game must load on a phone over simulated 4G, begin through real touch input, and pass automated checks. Entries must remain below 10 MB transferred, 900 draw calls, and 1.5 million triangles at peak during testing.

Participants can source textures, skies, and audio through free Atlas credits or their own materials, while rules prohibit trademarked characters.

Automated Judging Standards

From 3D Assets to Complete Worlds

The Game Jam also showcases 404—GEN’s progression from Gaussian Splats toward production meshes and now procedural, agent-readable geometry.

No local GPU is required for workflow, and teams of one to four people can enter by cloning the repository. Early reference builds include a coastal kart racer, desert shooter, farm simulation, night-market stall, locked-room mystery, and arctic stealth mission.
