TAO has been gaining serious momentum lately, increasingly finding itself in conversations among some of the most influential voices across crypto, AI, and business.
One of those voices is James Altucher, the digital-asset strategist at TAO Synergies, who recently laid out five reasons why the company remains extremely bullish on TAO.
Let’s go through these reasons one by one.
1. Bittensor is building a decentralized AI platform
Bittensor is already one of the largest open networks attempting to coordinate AI development through economic incentives.
Instead of one company controlling the models, infrastructure and distribution, Bittensor creates an open marketplace where miners compete to provide useful AI services and validators determine which work deserves rewards.
That makes Bittensor fundamentally different from centralized AI labs. Its long-term opportunity is not to beat one model, but to become infrastructure for a much broader range of AI applications.
If decentralized AI captures even a meaningful share of the rapidly expanding AI economy, Bittensor is positioned as one of the networks already building toward that future.
2. TAO is effectively a basket of AI networks
The second argument is perhaps the most interesting: buying TAO gives exposure to an entire ecosystem rather than a single AI application.
Bittensor’s subnets operate as specialized markets, with different teams building around areas such as inference, compute, search, trading, data, storage, image generation and more.
That creates a portfolio-like effect. An individual subnet can fail without necessarily destroying the broader Bittensor thesis. New subnets can emerge, while demand and competition help determine which networks receive greater economic weight.
This is why Altucher compares TAO to an ETF of AI subnets. The analogy isn’t perfect, subnet markets remain highly speculative, but it captures the breadth of what is being built on top of Bittensor.
3. The network has credible builders behind it
The third reason is less quantitative but important for a long-term infrastructure bet: confidence in the people building the protocol.
Altucher specifically highlighted Bittensor co-founder Jacob Steeves and the broader developer community, pointing to what he sees as a high-integrity development culture.
For TAO Synergies, this matters because Bittensor is not a finished product. The protocol continues to change through technical upgrades and governance.
A network that is expected to evolve for years needs developers capable of making those changes without losing sight of the underlying economic system.
4. The valuation looks tiny next to the AI opportunity
This is the core valuation argument.
Altucher pointed to TAO’s roughly $3 billion valuation and contrasted it with the enormous valuations being assigned to centralized AI companies.
Bittensor is attempting to build infrastructure for an industry that is already being valued in the trillions, while the entire network remains worth only a few billion dollars.
The bullish question is whether Bittensor can capture a meaningful portion of the economic activity created by AI.
If it does, today’s valuation could look very small in hindsight.
5. Bittensor is still getting better
Finally, TAO Synergies sees Bittensor’s constant evolution as a strong advantage rather.
The network has already undergone major changes including Dynamic TAO, subnet tokens, changes to emissions and the first TAO halving. More upgrades continue to reshape how incentives and capital flow through the ecosystem.
That matters because Bittensor is effectively trying to solve a difficult problem in real time: how do you create an open market that reliably rewards useful machine intelligence?
The protocol does not need to have that answer perfectly today. The core point is that governance, competition and technical iteration can progressively improve the system.
The bottom line
Taken together, the five arguments form a simple investment thesis:
Bittensor is building decentralized infrastructure for AI, TAO provides exposure to the entire network, the ecosystem is still early, and its current valuation leaves substantial room for growth if decentralized AI becomes a meaningful part of the broader AI economy.
That is ultimately why TAO Synergies is bullish. The company believes the market is valuing Bittensor as a crypto asset when it should increasingly be valued as AI infrastructure.
