Push that to 10 TB of monthly egress and you are looking at roughly $912 in transfer charges alone. The surprises are almost always egress, requests, retrievals, or replication charges nobody thought to model when they were signing up for the service.

On 10 August 2026, Hippius Drive went live, bringing that cost structure to personal and team file storage. It is Dropbox and Google Drive without the single-company servers.

Files are encrypted on the user’s device before they ever leave it, then distributed across the network, and only the user holds the unlock password and recovery phrase, so Hippius itself cannot read the data.

Accessing your own data carries zero egress fees, and everything runs on the same decentralized network Hippius already uses for its registry, with storage claims and payments recorded on-chain for verifiability.

Why the Advantage Holds

Hippius wins on three practical fronts. Costs are fixed and predictable rather than metered storage-plus-egress that reveals itself only after the bill arrives.
