Bittensor Halves Transaction Fees Across the Board with Runtime v467 Upgrade

Bittensor slashes transaction fees with Runtime v467, making TAO transfers, staking, registration and key swaps significantly cheaper across the Finney network.

Bittensor users can now move TAO, manage stake, and perform other network actions at a fraction of their previous cost following the rollout of Runtime v467 on Finney.

The upgrade brings a broad fee reduction across Bittensor, cutting the cost of everyday transactions while delivering much larger savings on several previously expensive operations.

A standard TAO transfer now costs 0.000083 TAO, down from 0.000168 TAO. Moving stake falls from 0.0018 TAO to 0.00038 TAO, while removing stake drops from 0.0024 TAO to 0.00063 TAO.

The biggest changes appear in some of Bittensor’s more expensive operations. Unstaking everything plunges from 0.048 TAO to 0.000083 TAO, while registration falls from 0.028 TAO to 0.0011 TAO.

Changing wallet keys is also significantly cheaper. The cost of a hotkey swap falls from 0.54 TAO to 0.17 TAO, while a coldkey swap drops from 1.16 TAO to just 0.0070 TAO. Root claims have also seen a dramatic reduction, falling from 1.02 TAO to 0.0083 TAO per call.

The fee cuts extend beyond standard Bittensor transactions. The network’s EVM gas price has been reduced from 10 gwei to 5 gwei, lowering the cost of transactions made through its Ethereum-compatible environment.

Despite the sweeping fee changes, the upgrade leaves other major network parameters untouched. Block capacity, emissions, swap fees, and network weights remain unchanged.

There is also nothing users need to configure, as wallets and `btcli` will automatically pick up the new fee amounts when transactions are submitted.

For Bittensor users, many common network actions now cost considerably less TAO, with some previously expensive operations seeing large fee reductions.
