UR (SN25) Brings 100,000+ Network Providers to Bittensor

UR (SN25) has taken its decentralised privacy network live on Bittensor mainnet, bringing over 100,000 network providers and introducing a reserve for verified capacity.

UR (SN25) Brings 100,000+ Network Providers to Bittensor

UR has brought its decentralised privacy network to Bittensor Subnet 25, connecting an existing network of more than 100,000 providers to Bittensor’s incentive system.

The mainnet went live on October 8, with UR making the public announcement on October 16. Its validator is now active, measuring traffic and setting weights, while anyone can participate as a miner or validator without permission.

UR routes encrypted traffic through independent providers using multi-hop routing and layered encryption, designed to prevent any single participant from seeing both a user’s identity and their online activity.

A Reserve to Fund Network Growth

UR has introduced a Network Capacity Reserve to fund network capacity ahead of demand.

At launch, providers receive 10% of miner emissions through the network’s operator pools, while the remaining miner emissions flow into the reserve. These funds can be used to bring new operators online, improve coverage in underserved markets or add capacity when traffic increases, with payments released only after delivery is verified.

The reserve is managed through a dedicated multisig wallet, keeping its funds separate from owner emissions and unavailable for team or operating expenses. UR aims to disclose allocations and outgoing transfers on-chain, allowing the community to track how the funds are used to expand network capacity.

Why This is Important for Bittensor

UR’s Network Scope

1) UR brings an existing provider base: Its network spans more than 100 countries, giving SN25 a foundation of infrastructure to coordinate instead of building its provider ecosystem from scratch.

2) Rewards are linked to measurable performance: Miners carry encrypted traffic, while validators assess uptime, transfer performance and proof of transit. These measurements feed into Bittensor’s Yuma Consensus for emission distribution.

3) Expansion has a dedicated funding mechanism: The reserve can help prepare capacity for new markets and demand spikes, with payments tied to verified delivery. Its effectiveness will depend on how well those funds translate into reliable service.

What Comes Next?

UR now has a path to bring more independent providers and operators into its privacy network through Bittensor. The next challenge is turning that reach into dependable service as participation and demand grow.

For Bittensor, SN25 offers a practical example of how decentralised incentives can support infrastructure people use beyond crypto. If UR can make privacy reliable, accessible and easy to use, it could help make online protection a default part of everyday internet access.
