Hippius SN75 Project is achieving great leaps in storage, analytics, protocol tooling, and confidential computing with a focus on robust engineering and user-centric design. The team size increased with four senior backend engineers who specialize in Rust, TypeScript, C/C++, Trusted Execution Environments (TEE), confidential computing, and exploit hardening to concentrate on quality and creativity.

Key Development Milestones

Storage & Desktop Improvements

The Hippius team has made significant enhancements to storage and desktop experience to enhance speed, security, and usability. Security is reinforced with Universal Encryption active, which implies all S3-compatible buckets, public or private, are now automatically encrypted. Transfer speeds are increased through Chunked Uploads/Downloads. Finally, user experience is further improved with Improved Sync for cross-device uniformity, seamless in-app updating, and technical profile data migration from JSON to Parquet for faster queries and lower data footprint.

Explorer & Analytics Improvements

The analytical capabilities of the platform have also been improved to provide customers with more meaningful and actionable data in real time. New functionality includes Hipstats 24h Miner Tracking to visually represent shifts in miner locations over time, and a Child-Node Ranking system that detects top performers in real-time. All of these insights are collected on the new Alphanomics Page, offering live actionable information for better decision-making. Enabling all of these tools is API Optimization, making the system capable of processing more data with greater efficacy.

Protocol & Tooling Advancements

The foundation protocol has undergone a major refactoring to simplify user flows, enhance performance, and improve security. This includes a New Staking & Bridging UX with fewer flows on both the Desktop and Console apps. The most significant modification is the Rust Miner Rewrite, which was completely rewritten for performance, stability, and security, now with Telegram and email notification, and with automating essential maintenance actions like IPFS pinning, garbage collection, and observability. On top of this, Deterministic Placement Groups have been added, which utilize more smart CID mapping to result in fewer churns, faster lookups, and lower database load.

Network Expansion and Future Direction

The Hippius network continues to grow, exhibiting community adoption and technological progress. The highest overall capacity is currently 123 TB, and the project has amassed $46,600 worth of community-used storage revenue.

As for future compute, the project is working on VM-based secure execution in its Confidential Computing initiative with a public beta soon.

What’s Next for Hippius:

  • Expanding confidential compute performance.
  • Increasing miner feedback & observability.
  • Continuous improvement in security, scalability, & user experience.

The Hippius team is dedicated to building the next generation of decentralized, production-quality storage, thanks to its growing community and engineering team for pushing the boundaries of decentralized compute and storage.
